Visual Testing (VT)
Visual testing (VT) is used before all other non-destructive testing methods (NDT) and is used for visual quality control with the human eye.
Visual inspection
Visual testing (VT) is used to examine surface-related quality features such as cracks, scratches and other irregularities in the areas of vehicle construction, aerospace, nuclear technology, turbine construction and plant engineering. Visual inspection (VT) involves locating and evaluating quality features on surfaces with the naked eye and with the aid of magnifying glasses, endoscopes, mirrors, cameras and microscopes. Thanks to this initial assessment by experienced test technicians, the first important findings can be obtained which are decisive for the use of further test methods on site or at Eurofins Qualitech.
The following errors can be assessed visually:
-
Mechanical, thermal, chemical, electrical damage
-
Welding seams (fusion defects, annealing colours, welding splashes, etc.)
-
Surface roughnesses
-
Corrosion
-
Geometry
-
Warpage
-
Topping
-
Deposits
